its a marshmallow world

So for my class on friday, I have to update this blog at least once a week with a picture and description of something I might be working on! :)

So I thought I'd share Snowflake!

Snowflake is a conceptual-element like character I'm designing and making for a short film directed by Tim O'Neil, being shot at the end of February.

(click and it grows)

As you can see, I am covering this choppy layered dress with beautiful fake snow, that is looking just lovely, and I'm covering the whole thing in it, with beloved
UHU!

On another note. I am very excited for the
Surreal Masquerade at the Art Gallery on Saturday evening.
Should be a whole load of fun!

thots

Life is a constant battle against deadlock. As long as we are alive, as long as we continue challenging ourselves, we are bound to come up against difficult obstacles that need to be overcome. If life were all smooth sailing, if we never encountered setbacks, that in itself would be a sign of stagnation.
If you are neglecting things you should be doing, forgetting your purpose in life because of the relationship you're in, then you're on the wrong path. A healthy relationship is one in which two people encourage each other to reach their respective goals while sharing each others hopes and dreams.
A relationship should be a source of inspiration, invigoration and hope...

A Good update of whats going on!

For our class, Website for promotion, we are to blog about some of the processes of our work and post pictures and such. I'm not exactly 100% what I'm going to document yet but I'll figure it out sometime this week.

Right now I'm just trying to warm up my blogging fingers.

So here is life in a nutshell for this year.
I graduate from NBCCD in the spring with a diploma for Fine Craft and Applied Design (for Fashion Design)
Our Fashion show (name of event pending) Will be held April 16th at 7pm at the Fredericton Delta. I will have a line of 9 outfits go down the runway (including my own outfit!) As you can imagine I am very excited and very busy, as I have never created a line of clothing before, I am learning it takes A LOT of time when you are just starting out in the world of fashion design!

I could chose to go back to school in the Fall to take an advanced studies diploma year, but my boss offered me an opportunity over the Xmas break that I could not turn down.
As I have talked about here before, I work for an awesome woman named Tina Robinson at a woman's consignment boutique called Lovely Betty.
In the next month, Lovely Betty will be moving out of its dank hole at Brook Side mall, and moving into a beautiful old house on Canada St. out in Marysville.
Once I've graduated in May,I will be working there full time, and Tina is giving me a studio space in the new house!!! That way I can start working on my own business while I take care of Lovely Betty at the same time. I will also hopefully be starting a website for Lovely Betty so we can sell our vintage goods for a more proper price.

I am very excited! There is also an apartment on the side of the house that they are going to renovate and its a good chance that Scott and I might move in there. It would be very convenient in multiple ways for the both of us!!!

Things are falling together quite nicely, and because of that I feel pretty relaxed about my future, which is nice because I need that reassurance during what is a pretty stressful last few months of school.

ps: I hate not posting pictures in blogs, so heres just a random one of me from the other day. I am SO pensive, staring out my window lost it thought. LOL

SO its been forever since I've posted here, but I need to get in the habit of building this blog into something better and more useful. I still just want to fill it with inspirational pictures and quotes, and share my artwork on it, but I never seem to find the time to sit and write out something good. I have to try and fix it's settings too because pictures are being cut off and I'm not html suave enough to know what to do about it.

But anyway, now I plan to post AT LEAST once a week, if not more.
I want to promise I'll write every Friday evening to wrap up the week in some way, and I'll try to keep it interesting.

People call it freak folk...

I'm obsessed with this song right now. Its pure magic. This is what expressing yourself through music is all about. Truly.

Argh I'm still too stupid to figure out how to make my blog wider so you can see videos and pictures better....just click it and watch it on the youtube site if you are having troubles seeing the whole thing!

Let me put music inside of you.

I want to start sharing a lot more music I love on this blog too. I listen to so much different stuff, and I'm always looking for people to share my obsession for a variety of music with.

I'll start by sharing this song,by one of my favorite bands, Cocteau Twins.

This song is off their first album, Garlands, from 1982.

The album is haunting magic, one of my favorite of theirs. The whole album is worth checking out, not just this one song. I highly suggest it <3

Their music follows me everywhere. It is like the ethereal soundtrack to my mind.

This song holds special meaning, its off the album Four-Calendar Cafe, from 1993.

This album is much different then their first album, less of dark wave/goth, but still just as ethereal and surreal.
Still just as beautiful.

Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) is such an amazing creature, putting words and sentences together in the most mystical and most of the time nonsensical of ways, and is very much glossolalia, or, speaking in tongues almost, emphasizing syllables in ways that differ from what you'd normally hear.

"part of her appeal is how she can make hard-to-interpret lyrics so emotionally gripping."

Lots more music shares to come in the future.

I'm back with lots to say

I tend to disappear for long periods of time when it comes to blogs. After March hit I was swamped with school work, getting garments finished for the end of the year and the fashion show (May 1st), which I won second place in a challenge at! Here is the winning dress:

For the next 2 weekends I was costume management on my friends film shoot about D&D in the 80's. I also acted in it, my first time ever! I played a swamp witch.

hahaha. I totally have a whole new respect for actors, doubt I'll be doing it again any time soon! But I couldn't pass that opportunity up!

Between all this I've been job hunting like crazy, and in the midst of it all I managed to find the best job ever! I help out with a vintage/womens consignment shop called Lovely Betty. Its literally next door to my house so no travel expense! That is damn nice for a change!! Its the cutest little store ever, I am totally in love with it and the owners are way too nice!

Pretty happy with life at this moment. I'm still looking for another part time job, I really hope I can find one soon!!

That is it from me for now. I'll try to make more kick ass posts
